About BLOCS
The Blessings Lighthouse Open Community School (BLOCS) started in the corner of a church, where a Sunday School teacher began teaching the ABCs to students to learn how to read. Word spread quickly throughout Misisi Compound where the over 120,000 inhabitants are recognized as the poorest of the poor within the Capital Region of Zambia. Being born in this impoverished community usually means your access to a sustained education is extremely limited, causing the cycle of poverty to continue for more generations.

BLOCS desires to be that beacon of hope for Misisi’s children and has expanded to include Pre-Grade through Grade 7, providing a solid foundational Primary Education.
Our Initiative
The future vision of BLOCS is to expand further to include grades 8 through 12. Once the Primary Level has received committed sponsorship to cover all of the required expenses, WWLM will begin the process of expansion!
We need YOU!
Sponsor TODAY! Change a life FOREVER!
Worker Salaries
BLOCS seeks to provide a competitive monthly salary for teachers and support staff who invest daily into the lives of the most vulnerable.

Their love, care, and dedication are evidence that they have taken their responsibility as if these children were their very own.

Uniforms
The Zambian Ministry of Education requires all students to be fully uniformed while attending school.
This investment enables each child, no matter their social standing, to take pride in their attire, and fosters equality at every level. The motto, "Dress for success" is brought to life as each student shines brightly each morning.

Feeding
Most students we sponsor have very limited access to food. For the majority, school lunch will be the only balanced meal received daily.

Nutrition is vital to life, but equally as important to cognitive development. The student assessment results are surpassing national standards, and we strongly believe feeding support is an essential part of this success.
Supplies / Maintenance
While in more advanced societies, technology has become the norm in education; the same is not true in third world nations.

The effectiveness of each classroom lies within access to papers, pencils, rulers, textbooks and more.
Additionally, the upkeep of the buildings and grounds ensures a safe and clean learning environment for all.
