Operation Thanks & Giving, CT ~ This past week we were excited to host our annual Operation Thanksgiving distribution! In partnership with local agencies, we were able to bless 27 families in Manchester, (a total of 125 family members benefiting) with grocery gift cards to enable them to have a complete Thanksgiving dinner.
We shared Christ’s love, as many came in with heavy burdens that you could see weighed them down; some were even in tears for what they are facing.
We took the opportunity to pour hope into their hearts and let them know that God loves them – and we do too! Please continue to keep these families in your prayers!
Jicamarca, Peru ~ We continue to see an open door for us in Jicamarca. Sports is only a tool because we know that the Gospel is what transforms people; and this Gospel requires human vessels, so it is our privilege to go there every Saturday and see what God is doing in the community through His word.
Our team is still surprised at the way the kids respond to God’s love. The young people arrive early and are always waiting for us. Their moms told us that they start to behave well around Thursday and Friday so they have permission to come on Saturday. Then, they wake up early and do their chores so they don’t miss out.
We can see in their faces how receptive they are now to the Word and what God talks to them. They are growing in their knowledge and understanding of who God is and His plan for them. They still have physical and emotional needs, but we see how God’s love is like medicine for them.
Also, some of the mothers arrive early to help clean the pitch and stay so we are able to share with them.
We are so excited, as the school in the area asked for our help to share with the parents. This is a small school that is higher up on the hill. It was a great opportunity to share biblical principles with them concerning parenting. Their testimony was that when they usually have these meetings they fall asleep, but this meeting was different because it really spoke to their hearts!
God is also expanding our ministry - we are now working with kids in another district called Surquillo, in Lima. The kids there may not have a great financial need, but their spiritual need is the same.
One day one kid came to class but he said that he didn’t want to participate. Brother Gonzalo asked him to take a seat and then he went to talk to him. We found out the problem was that a year ago his father had died from COVID and this young man missed him so much. Brother Gonzalo took some time to share God's love and pray for him to have comfort and hope in this difficult time.
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 15:58
I want to thank you for all your love for our country and our church. I know that you are abounding in the work of the Lord there in the U.S., so it encourages us to also continue in His work.
